Exfoliating your skin is an essential step in any skincare routine. It involves the removal of dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, revealing brighter, smoother and more radiant-looking skin.
You heard it from us, exfoliating is vital! As we age, our skin's natural exfoliation process slows down, which can lead to a buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of our skin. This buildup can make our skin look dull, uneven, and clogged. Exfoliating helps to remove this buildup, revealing fresh, new skin cells and encouraging cell turnover.
Exfoliating also helps to improve the efficacy of other skincare products you use. When dead skin cells are present, they can block the absorption of your other skincare products, preventing them from penetrating deep into the skin where they can do the most good. By removing this barrier, you can ensure that your other skincare products are being absorbed properly and working at their best!
Including exfoliation into your routine can also assist with preventing breakouts. When dead skin cells accumulate on the surface of your skin, they can mix with oil and bacteria, clogging your pores and leading to breakouts. Exfoliating helps to prevent this by keeping your pores clear and your skin smooth and even.
Now, let's talk about the best ways to incorporate exfoliation into your skincare routine. There are two main types of exfoliants: physical and chemical. Physical exfoliants use a granular substance to manually remove dead skin cells, while chemical exfoliants use acids to dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells.
At Organic Ministry, we have formulated a beautiful range of natural exfoliants:
Essentials Rosehip Cream Exfoliant
This physical exfoliant is a cream based formula with rosehip powder (we don’t use any microplastic beads) will buff away dead skin cells, leaving the skin soft and supple. It also contains watermelon, strawberry and davidson plum to brighten and even the skin tone and add hydration.
Essentials Exfoliating Vitamin Crystals
Our strongest exfoliant in the retail brand, this product works on a physical and naturally chemical level to dissolve the bonds that bind the dead skin cells to the face. Containing active ingredients of vitamin c, malic acid and aloe vera, your skin will feel and look brighter, softer and smoother. It comes in a dry powder form which you mix with your favourite cleanser, using more or less depending on the intensity you want from your exfoliant.
The exfoliant is designed for people who have very sensitive/reactive skin or for people who are scared to use anything too aggressive. The exfoliating herbs use a combination of flower petals from jasmine, rose, calendula and chamomile as well as luffa and rice to gently but effectively polish away the dead skin cells while healing and soothing the skin.
Mix the desired amount with your cleanser, we recommend the Delicate Cream Cleanser for best results. Depending on how much you choose to add to your cleanser, it will give you different strengths of exfoliation. This is a purely physical exfoliant which means it will only work as hard as you want it to.
It's important to note that you should not over-exfoliate your skin, as this can lead to irritation, dryness, and sensitivity. Stick to the recommended guidelines, but most importantly, listen to your skin to determine what works best for you.
Exfoliating your skin is an important step in any skincare routine! By removing dead skin cells, you can reveal brighter, smoother, and more radiant-looking skin, improve the efficacy of your other skincare products, and prevent breakouts.
So, don't forget to incorporate an exfoliating product into your skincare routine, and your skin will thank you for it!
